Plitvice Lakes are the biggest and the oldest National park in Croatia. It is part of world’s heritage, according to UNESCO. This spring I decided to visit it again. After some planning and waiting for the good weather conditions, finally came that weekend – the last one in April. I bought my ticket for the Park online, a few days before visiting. In the moment of buying tickets, it is necessary to choose the time of entrance. Also, you should choose one of two existing entrances (number 1 or 2). Since there was not available ticket for the Entrance 1, my visiting started by parking my car near the Entrance 2.
Each entrance is connected with different programs of walking through the National Park, which you could follow. At the Entrance 1 you could find 4 different programs (A, B, C and K) marked green. At the Entrance 2, you could choose between other 4 programs (E, F, H and K) marked orange. Each one is different regarding duration and direction of walking, also since localities that you will see. But you could also change your route during walking, what I also done. Since I started from Entrance 2 and like to see the Great waterfall, I choose route F. During exploring beautiful lakes and enjoying the view to gorgeous waterfalls, I found out that my F route has missed.
In that case, you could just choose some other route, since each one is colorful and full of natural beauty. So, I was exploring Upper lakes along and across. The route leads partly through the wood, near the lakes and partly cross the wooden paths and bridges over the lakes.
The most impressive attraction of this area are waterfalls “Veliki prštavci” and “Mali prštavci” – the great and small ‘prštavci’. Here you could really feel water droplets and refreshment.
After all beauty of Upper Lakes of National Park Plitvice Lakes, I choose walking (here you could also choose driving by small bus) near the Lake Kozjak, to reach the Great waterfall. Even more closer to the Great waterfall I was, the area around becomes even more amazing. A lot of small waterfalls with white sparkling over the turquoise lakes. During walking over the charming wooden bridges, you could enjoy the sound of the water and feel refreshment on some points. Absolutely great.
Near the way to the Great waterfall, you will also see another interesting waterfall. Since wooden bridge is above the waterfall, you could experience the view when water falls into the deepness.
Near the point of the Great waterfall you could seat around, just relax and enjoy the view. Furthermore, I choose the path above the area of the Great waterfall.
Here you could find a few viewpoints and view is absolutely magic. I strongly recommend visiting this treasure and unique wonder of nature. Depending on current situation, you could also enjoy a great gastronomy of Lika region. So, welcome to the Croatia and its famous and secret beauty!
