This time, last year, I enjoyed skiing. It was a beautiful, sunny, not to cold day, during our traveling through the Slovenia. For our winter holidays, we choose skiing at the Rogla – Ski resort.
Rogla is a ski resort located at the top of the Zreče Pohorje (“Zreško Pohorje”). It has 13,5 km of ski slopes and 24 km of cross-country tracks. Skiers are guaranteed a minimum of hundred skiing days on excellent ski slopes covered with natural and compact snow, for beginners, recreational and competitive skiers.
As we had driving toward the higher area, we saw additional quantity of snow near the road and view through the wood became even more fascinating. Finally, when we came on the top, we found magical view to the snowy area during the wonderful, sunny day.
There you could find more different hotel complex and this time, we choose hotel complex Planja-Rogla-Brinje. Actually, it has been a great decision, since beginning of the skiing slope is right in front of our hotel. Hotel has its own storage for skiing equipment, where you could storage your own equipment or you could rent hotel’s equipment. In hotel complex you could also enjoy swimming in the pool or you could choose relaxing with massage. Our room has been in building of the hotel Brinje with a great view to the hill and wood covered with snow. Are you craving for thrilling adventures? Just near to our building, famous Zlodejevo Alpine coaster, has located. Actually, this winter and summer sledding area enables a really special experience – racing through the wood along the 1.360 m long winding track in your sleigh, reaching the speed of 40 km/h. I recommend it for everyone addicted to adrenaline. Here you also have its own breaks, so, you could use it if you don’t like so much adrenaline.
Well, I really miss this normal and usual things, like enjoying holidays and mingling with other people. Just simple things like enjoying different food in some restaurant. Speaking of the restaurant, in the hotel’s restaurant (for complex Planja-Rogla-Brinje) has been different kind of very delicious food. We used it for breakfast and for the dinner. Just after the delicious breakfast, our winter’s adventure began. Beautiful, sunny days on the snow… Winter in Rogla – Ski resort. People usually say that someone just like skiing or not. So, I definitely like it! Although, I haven’t been so sure, right at first. Maybe, because of so much equipment and lack of courage. But, now, I am waiting for the new skiing adventure. Here you have possibility to participate in groups’ skiing lessons or you can take private lesson, since the skiing school Rogla offers beginners’ and advanced courses.
After hours spent on the snow, I just need some afternoons’ coffee and some sweets. Here you have more different possibilities for relaxing after an active day. I would like to recommend the Pub and pizzeria – “Planja Pohorje” at the top of the hill, where slope starting. So, every day I combined coffee with some other cake and sweet. Here you could also try very good pizza and other different meals.
Additionally, in the area of our hotel complex is located restaurant “Stara Koča”, where you could enjoy delicious meals and wines, near the fireplace. Also, you could enjoy the view from the terrace, eating some sweets.
Additional location that you could visit in the neighborhood, is the Treetop walk “Pot med krošnjami”. It is a 37m high wooden watch tower with total walking distance of 1 km. Slovenia has many other interesting locations to visit and I hope that traveling will be possible soon, again…
