The Christmas season in Austria is a really something special. This is a period of the year when charming and cozy Austrian towns become even cozier. So, during my last’s year “chasing the Christmas” tour through the Upper Austria, I’ve also visited Steinbach an der Steyr.

It’s located in the valley of the river Steyr, 20 km south of the town Steyr. It is a really very nice and charming village, where Advent season has an extra charm. Here you could find town houses decorated with life-size Advent windows. It’s a special feeling to see how the whole village actually become an Advent calendar. From the 1st to 24th of December, one of these lovingly decorated windows is opened daily by visitors. I’ve really enjoyed the warmness of the Christmas market here.

The festively decorated market stalls with their glittering lights bestow a very special flair on the romantic town’s square. In charming wooden houses, you could try hot wine or some other warm drinks, different sweets and regional specialties. Here you could also find different old and new handcrafts. You could buy some unique products and souvenirs. Since it could be cold, you could warm yourself near the few fire points.

Fortunately, I’ve visited Steinbach and der Steyr during a normal Advent season in 2019. So, I hope that you could truly enjoy this Christmas market in Advent season 2021. and I believe you will.
Finally, since period of Christmas celebration is almost finished, for this winter – that’s all folks! For some new Christmas stories – till the next Christmas:)
