The land of good people and the good wine, this is what you could read on the wooden board, entering the Istria area. After long-term visiting Istria, I could definitely confirm it. But here is also so much more, beautiful nature (green and blue), cultural heritage and great gastronomy. Spring in Istria is definitely a great period to explore it.

Since Istria is the biggest Croatian peninsula, it’s pretty hard to mention all of wonderful towns and places. So, in subject travelogue I’ll mention a part them. I choose Medulin for my starting point to explore Istria. In Medulin you could find beautiful nature, different kind of beaches (rocky, pebbles and long sandy beach) and camps (Medulin and Kažela).

Just near the Medulin, through the Premantura, you could reach the Cape Kamenjak, the southernmost cape of Istria. Here you could enjoy untouched nature, beautiful sea and many secret beaches. You could walking for hours, cycling or you could entrance by car after paying some entrance fee (walkers and cyclists not pay for entrance).

Except enjoying in this natural beauty, just 7 km distance from Medulin, you could see beautiful architecture of town Pula and its magnificent Arena. If you continue to the Nord, during west coast of Istria, you will find town Rovinj. I’m adoring it’s charming, stone streets and passages to the sea.

Just near the Rovinj, you could also visit town Poreč, where you could walk near the sea, through the town, looking to the beautiful houses and buildings constructed from the stone. Here you could enjoy great gastronomy in charming taverns. In Poreč I tried great cake and delicious ice cream. On the other hand, if you choose east coast, you will enjoy the view to the Kvarner area. Here you could visit Plomin and Rabac. Also, you could choose visiting Labin or Hum, on theirs hills.

What is very special for Istria, is its mainland and different charming towns on their hills. This small towns are absolutely gorgeous, everyone on its own way. First ones that I visited, was Motovun, Hum and Buzet. After ascending to the walls of the old town, magnificent view is waiting for you. You will see green nature, vineyards and olive groves in the valley and small stone streets in the town. After walking through the town, it’s great time to enjoy Istrian gastronomy. I recommend to try Istrian maneštra (some kind of soup with vegetables) or different kind of pašta (pasta). I’d like to mention famous Istrian pasta – fuži with truffles or my favorite pljukanci with asparagus (great time for tasting is spring in Istria).

Except the great food in Motovun, Buzet and Beram, I’d like to recommend tavern “Stari cok” in Valtura. Here you could try really delicious, domestic meals. I honestly recommend to visit, exploring and experience Istria by itself, and I will certainty write more about Istria and its towns and places.
